How vulnerable do you have to be to do a boudoir session?

It’s normal to be worried about getting a boudoir session. Boudoir sessions are intimate and rely on you trusting the person behind the camera. The question that is always asked of me is “how vulnerable do you have to be to do a boudoir session?” I decided I would address this so you could feel more at ease about your session by going over all the worries my ladies have had and addressing them.

“I don’t know how to look sexy.”

I’m going to let you in on a little secret: no one is just randomly photogenic or knows how to look sexy. They don’t just roll out of bed, ready for the camera, and just ooze the right thing to do. It’s not as common as riding a bike. Being photogenic is about feeling and atmosphere, and how someone makes you feel in that moment. It’s my job to make ladies photogenic. Complete with corny jokes and being myself when I show you how poses are done. Ladies hire me to make things simple, easy, comfortable, and fun for them. I’ll make sure you always know what to do and feel confident doing it by showing you how to do it first. Come to your session with no experience at all and I’ll make you look like a professional.

“I won’t look as good as the other ladies, I don’t have a butt like them”

I hear this all the time. Every single lady, even the ones you admire so much in the group that have butts, said this and I proved them wrong. The same women who say this are the same ones who kill it and let me use their images. They have them and so do you! I work with everyday normal women, not professional women. It’s my job to ensure the lighting and posing reflects how beautiful you are. You just think you won’t look as good but wait until you get spoiled with hair & makeup and then have the biggest hype girls ever hyping you up. You’re going to feel like an absolute goddess when you leave.

“I’m afraid of being judged.”

My sessions are a no-judgment zone. Your privacy and comfort are important here at Vanessa Summers Boudoir. I never share any photos without permission or talk about my clients. I have a more personal approach where I become friends with so many of my ladies. I’d never judge or talk about you. I want you to genuinely be yourself and know I’m going to take care of you. No matter how spicy you do or don’t get, it will never leave the studio if you don’t want it to! You are in control and you’ll never be judged for any decision you make.

“It’s too expensive for me.”

Boudoir can definitely be a little pricey. I always ask my ladies what do they want from their session. Most say “to feel beautiful” or “to see my fiance’s mouth hit the floor.” If this is what you want, how much would you pay for it? Boudoir is more than just photos. It’s therapy to a lot of women and creates a lasting memory that they can look back on as a reminder who the woman they are.

We spend so much on clothes, purses, and jewelry but won’t spend too much on our mental health. I feel like we should change that.
